Vitamin Guide

The vitamins and minerals that are essential to your health

This may seem like a lot of supplements. The best way to navigate which ones are right for you are to see which of these supplements most resonate with you…what symptoms do you feel you need to address? Read which symptoms some of these take care of.

Humans Have Long-Term Deficiencies

A great deal of scientific research has established that for humans, long-term deficiencies in vitamins and essential minerals can result in loss of energy, the breakdown of bodily functions, and eventually death.

Every few years the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does a large national survey. These find widespread deficiencies in the population.

-93% of the population does not get enough vitamin D

-over 90% aren’t getting enough vitamin E

-over 54% not enough magnesium

-over 36% not getting enough vitamin C! A glass of orange juice or a packet of Emergen-C doesn’t come close to supplying enough vitamin C for good health (besides being loaded with sugar).

Chemical Manipulation and Poor Environment Creates Deficiencies

In this day and age, poor soil quality, excessive processing, and other chemical manipulation of our foods deplete their vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients important for our health. Not to mention, the majority of the population does not eat or have easy access to organic, whole foods, and a mainly plant-based diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals.

A Saturated Vitamin Market, How To Choose?

With thousands of supplements on the market, it’s hard to know if you’re getting high-quality supplements that can actually deliver on what they promise. After all, how can you know for sure that you’re not wasting money on supplements that won’t improve your health?

The answer to this question is that not all supplements are created equal. Not by a long shot. However, when you shop for supplements, the more informed you are, the better you’ll be able to find healthier, more effective supplements.

Not All Supplements Are Created Equal

Just like the food you eat and the products you put on your body, you want to make sure they’re clean because everything is absorbed into your system and organs. You want to stay away from supplements that have additives in their ingredients like titanium dioxide, which has been linked to cancer, as well as citric acid, alcohol, whey protein, carnitine, preservatives, natural flavoring, bovine derivatives. Some supplements, including many being marketed to children, even have lots of sugar added. Furthermore, many ingredients are known to be poorly absorbed yet are used because they are cheaper or take up less space in the tablet or capsule.

In a market saturated with multivitamin-minerals supplements, we want to give you the best foundational supplements to take. While we recommend individual supplement protocols for people suffering from specific symptoms and illnesses, here is a foundational set of supplements that is essential and helpful for anyone to consider:

Recommended supplement brands: Vimergy, Gaia, Pure Encapsulations, Good State Natural, Thorne. Any supplements and brands on this list are clean and organic:

Zinc:

Zinc is the most important mineral for your overall health and your entire immune system relies on Zinc. Unfortunately, almost the entire American population is deficient in this key mineral. Zinc works to weaken the flu virus, as well as stabilize the immune system.

Zinc is an essential supplement for year-round support. It is also incredibly important for liver health, UTI’s, candida, sinus infections, strep throat, autoimmune conditions, acne, adrenal problems, arthritis, cancer, eczema, psoriasis, brain fog, child and baby live just to name a few.

Given that almost everyone is deficient in zinc, the amount you take, how long you take it for, and what kind of zinc you take is really important to take into account. You want to be taking this supplement every day for at least six months to properly nourish your body, however, you will feel the effect much before like I did after taking it for a few days to fight my virus. Zinc sulfate is the best kind of zinc to take because it doesn’t include citric acid, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, or other additions that are not good for you.

Cats Claw: Antiviral & Antibacterial

Cat's claw is a secret weapon for fighting any condition caused by strep bacteria, including cystic acne, bacterial vaginosis, SIBO, sinus pain and congestion, bronchitis, sore throats, UTIs, styes, and more because it works to kill viruses and bacteria. Cats Claw is also a great tool for preventing and recovering from the flu.

According to the Medical Medium cat’s claw holds compounds that “supersede synthetic pharmaceuticals.” Antibiotics are heavily used to combat many illnesses such as Lyme disease and for colds and flu. The world would be a different place, according to The Medical Medium, if cat’s claw took the place of antibiotics; the rate of illness would reduce, and recovery would quicken, regardless of the diagnosis for a given illness.” Antibiotics of course have their place and purpose in society. Although many people can become resistant to antibiotics, Cats Claw contains properties where pathogens such as bacteria cannot become resistant to it, as they sometimes can to antibiotics.

Cat's claw fights against all kinds of viruses, bacteria, and also parasites. It doesn't produce the so-called Herxheimer die-off reaction so common with antibiotics.

Lemon Balm: Antiviral and Soothing Support

Lemon balm supports not only the immune system but also the central nervous system and adrenals. It provides a calming effect on the body. It’s also anti-parasitic, antiviral, and antibacterial.

Vitamin C: For year-round immune support

Vitamin C is essential for year-round support. In fact, it's critical for our overall health, however, so many people are deficient in this vitamin. Vitamin C is anti-inflammatory and helps increase our white blood cell count. It boosts the immune system against viruses, yeast, mold, and unwanted fungus. This vitamin C also helps to cleanse the blood, liver, lymph system, and adrenal glands. It also helps to bring the central nervous system to balance and detox effectively, which “is a challenge many chronically ill people face until they get the right detox-supporting nutrients.”

This Ester-C Vitamin is a form of vitamin C that contains rose hips which have the power to activate other forms of vitamin C found in the supplement along with any vitamin C from the food you consume, thus making it stronger. Plus, this is the most usable form of vitamin C for our bodies to absorb and it's very gentle on our digestive system.

B-12: Nervous System & Adrenal Support

When you get the flu or a fever, it weakens your nervous system and adrenals. You need the right kind of B-12 with adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin because it helps protect the nervous system and adrenals to withstand flu bugs or any other pathogen. It's best used every day throughout the year.

Whether you have acne, SIBO, eczema, weight problems, depression, allergies, cancer, seasonal affective disorder, anxiety, ringing in the ears, thyroid problems, aches and pains, rheumatoid arthritis, memory issues, brain fog, or any other symptom or condition, the right kind of B12 is important.

Nearly everyone is deficient in vitamin B12 today. Blood tests can show your B12 levels are normal, but that doesn’t mean it’s usable B12 that’s absorbing where it needs to in your body. The body relies on B12 for tens of thousands of daily functions. The right kind of B12 helps with:

  • illness and symptom recovery

  • bolsters and protects the brain and central nervous system

  • invaluable support for any neurological condition, such as fatigue, anxiety, depression, bipolar, restless legs, twitching, tingles and numbness, POTS, Parkinson's, MS, and others

  • builds up the immune system

  • protects against viral and neurotoxin damage

  • critical for gene mutation and methylation issues

  • highly instrumental to all of the liver’s over 2,000 chemical functions, and more.

Nettle Leaf:

Nettles also contain a strong potent anti-inflammatory. Nettle leaves are also very helpful in preventing chronic headaches, sore throats, lower blood sugar levels, and helping to prevent UTI’s and frequent urination.

Spirulina: Multivitamin & Immune Support

Spirulina is an amazing multivitamin. Spirulina stops viral and bacterial growth inside the liver and revitalizes your organs. It removes the toxic heavy metals that cause or contribute to many symptoms, including eczema, psoriasis, ADHD, autism, bipolar, mood swings, anxiety, depression, and more. If you are already weakened from toxic heavy metals, you will be more susceptible to catching the flu and having a worse experience while you are sick with it. Spirulina can help you with this aspect of your health and your overall health too. The quality of spirulina you use matters.

Barley Grass Juice powder

Mixing this with spirulina powder is a miracle food. Barley grass juice powder has been shown to strengthen the immune system, alkalinize the body, increase energy, aid digestion, relieve constipation, and improve the health of skin, hair, and nails. It is essential for removing toxins and heavy metals out of the thyroid. It's also excellent for assisting the circulation of the lymphatic system.

Magnesium Glycinate:

Do you struggle with poor circulation, dizziness, vertigo, tingling in the hands and feet, tremors, brain fog, anxiety, or depression? These, and many more mystery symptoms, are connected to neurological and central nervous system issues. Magnesium glycinate or a magnesium/calcium supplement helps with this.

Plant-based Omega 3 (fatty acids):

Omega-3 fish oil has been widely promoted as a support for hair, skin, and nail health, but this information is misguided. The highly concentrated mercury found in krill and fish oil supplements harms the body. That is why you want to look for plant-based omega 3. You must have a balance of omega fatty acids for good health and good skin. They are responsible for healthy cell membranes which act as the passageway for nutrients and waste to cross in and out of our body. This keeps our skin looking young and plump.

Turmeric:

Turmeric has been used for centuries as a powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, and antidepressant. Turmeric is a known blood purifier and helps prevent inflammation and soothe respiratory issues, regulate the menstrual cycle, improve liver function, support the circulatory system and so much more. Turmeric also helps the body to digest proteins and fats as well as to regulate blood sugar for diabetics.

Chaga Mushroom:

Chaga is rich in Vitamins A, C, B, D, and E and minerals such as manganese, iron, calcium, zinc, and selenium. It also contains potent anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-candida, and anti-parasite properties.
